Ajay Arun Mehta & Associates has advised businesses, professionals and non-residents from Delhi for 37 years. The work is deliberately not volume work: the person who reads your record is the person who argues it.
The firm
The practice was founded in 1989 by CA Arun Mehta and has run continuously since. It began in direct tax and audit, and grew into the areas its clients grew into: GST when it replaced the old indirect regime, cross-border work as clients acquired assets and obligations outside India, and representation as assessments moved from a room to a portal.
What has not changed is the shape of the work. The firm takes on matters it can staff at partner level. That puts a ceiling on how many clients it carries, and it is the reason the advisory sessions on this site are priced and scheduled rather than offered as a free first meeting.
Clients are in manufacturing, retail, technology and healthcare; individually, they are professionals, founders and non-residents with Indian assets. A good part of the current work is defending returns that somebody else filed.

Integrity
A position we would not defend on the record is one we will not put on a return. Where the answer a client wants is not available, we say so before the engagement rather than after the assessment.
Excellence
Judgments are read in full, not from a headnote. A submission cites what it relies on, so the officer reading it can check it and the client can too.
Confidentiality
Client records stay with the firm. Nothing identifying a client appears on this site, in a practice note, or in an illustration of our own work.
